The body is a strong force, the breath a powerful tool; you will find that my style is as well. People come to their mats to celebrate their strength and courage as warriors of their lives. My hope is that through movement and breath, I can help them realize their power, remember their courage, and honor their space.

Lian Mosher E-RYT 200, YACEP

Lian is currently enrolled in Maryland University of Integrative Health's clinical Yoga Therapy masters program. Upon completion, she will be a certified yoga therapist C-IAYT with the International Association of Yoga Therapists, an RYT 500 with the Yoga Alliance, and will receive her Masters of Science Degree.

Currently residing  in Virginia, I have been blessed with the opportunity to bring my practice to the residents of Newport News, Yorktown, and the surrounding areas. My focus has been to offer inward focus through colorful movement and mindful breath, so that students can breach their own limitations and rise as they stand in their truths.

Creative Power Vinyasa has become the flavor of my style, and strength and stability has become my style as a yoga instructor, although I also enjoy restorative, meditation, and chair. As a Sound Healer, I offer a small mantra and crystal singing bowl sound bath for each savasana to reground and restore after practice. It can be difficult in this modern society to enter a space and be asked to quiet the mind to start. My style is to bring students into their breath and bodies through powerful and perhaps challenging flow, incorporating pranayama, mantra, mudra, and sound healing into practice, so that peace can be attained within as they settle into savasana.

Please don't be intimidated by the practice! My goal is to meet you where you are, even in a group class, modifications, props, and advanced variations are always offered so that you can create a practice that is productive for where you are and what you need.

With Yoga with Lian, my goal is to create a yogic space, not a studio. The lack of mirrors in addition to the free-spirited and care-free atmosphere aims to offer students a truly safe and personal space to sweat out their burdens, stresses, and mental blockages so they can become stronger, more flexible, and more resilient to their environment. Yoga with Lian aspires to transcend building a Yoga Community and create a Yoga Family.

I have always been connected to subtle energy, chakra work, and chanting. I began a regular meditative practice  in 2002 while in middle school to help me manage my stress and teenage angst. My first experience with yoga was  in 2004, but I did not truly pick up my practice until while visiting family in Seoul in 2007. Upon returning to the states, I continued to practice yoga in Colorado, this time with a Kundalini instructor through 2009, when I went to DC for college. It wasn't until 2011 when I refound yoga during a particularly difficult time in my young adult life, as so many of us do. It was in yoga that I eventually began to refind my body, my foundation, and found that through breath and movement I had tools to navigate my life. My practice at Studio DC  opened new doors and opportunities in my personal practice, and their guidance helped shaped the yogi I was to become today.

After moving to Boston in early 2014, I found a different side of yoga, with the added Bostonian quirks and grace, practicing almost daily. I decided to take my personal experience and growth with yoga to the next after another rough patch in later that year, and began one of my most transformative journeys with JP Centre Yoga's first 200hr YTT with Daniel Max and Magi Eisenberg.

From there, I have taught over 1000 hours of classes, private sessions, workshops, and events, working to share the healing ability of yoga with Hampton Roads.  As Sound Healer and Reiki practitioner using Crystal Singing Bowls, Vibrations, and Mantra to offer a restorative experience that will guide you back to your center. Just as each moment in life is a totally different experience and opportunity to create change, each time we meet will be a little different and an opportunity to grow. I look forward to having you! Namaste!
